Viad Corp, a trade show company located in Phoenix AZ, said its second quarter revenue rose 36 percent due to increased efforts in its marketing and events group.

Viad is a company split in two separate divisions; a marketing and events division and a travel and recreation group. The marketing and events division focuses on producing trade shows and other promotional events while the travel and recreation group focuses on tourism and other traveling products and services. While both divisions are vital, Viad says they owe their success to increased efforts to increase margins and profitability of their marketing and events division.

Revenue increases in the Travel & Recreation Group were driven by the additions of Alaska Denali Travel, the Banff International Hotel and the St. Mary Lodge & Resort, as well as an increase in visitor traffic across all of the attractions at the company’s Brewster unit.

This success does not have to be Viad Corp’s alone! If this teaches us anything it is that now more than ever we need to focus more time and effort into trade show presentations and promotion! Of course the other division of Viad Corp had something to do with such strong revenue in the second quarter, but without promoting a product how can you sell it?

This one example of a company’s substantial growth alone should be proof that if your business is not showcased in a trade show then it needs to be!  Trade shows are a great way to network and build relationships with potential customers!  Check listings in your area to see when a trade show or showcase for your business niche will be taking place and see what you have to do to be featured. Spending a little money now could mean big bucks later on.
